Nice Day For A Run
Winding winding heart is beating
He thinks, "The sky is great why not a run?"
Exhilarating slowly don't push too hard
Hold the pace greet the nice man
He says, "Hi!"
Curving beating melodic footsteps
God I can hear you
This is true running imploding into
His thoughts...HIS thoughts are higher THAN your thoughts.
Mind wandering black hawk gliding
The easy green of freshly cut grass
Competing thoughts competing visages overly wrought
Jangling keys jumbled thoughts
Overlapping steps
Melodic like the beating of my heart
I went for a lunch run from a friend's place to Shoreline parking lot and back. Never before have I run at this pace (13 min mile). Weird how at a much slower pace how people share a gentle smile and enthusiastic wave, urging you on...only much slower than what I'm used to running at before. However a humbling experience. What a beautiful day for a run. Thank you God.
Harrassed About Sexual Harassment
At work all the engineers are assigned the task of taking a self-taught course about:
+ Eliminate Sexual Harassment
+ Prevent Illegal Discrimination
Mine is way overdue so the HR/Receptionist person keeps making her request for me to take the test. Granted I work in a department where female engineers are like finding the ever elusive "White Elephant", I still have to do my part as a law abiding office worker. (As of this writing there are ZERO female engineers in my department.)
The Course and Some Cases of Sexual Harrassments
I learned in one case a woman had postcards of nude arts up in the office wall (mementos from her travels.) If anyone finds the postcards offensive that can be grounds for "sexual harrassment." Here are some classic and subtle examples...
The Joker: An old fashion jokester who ends sentences saying "babe", "honey", "sweety" or "show some leg." Or teasing with "will you marry me" when he's already married.
Mr Hands: A "touchy-feely" person who "accidentally" brushes up against someone when passing in a hallway.
Upfront Franny: A woman after learning that her male coworker personally knows a plastic surgeon goes into details about her body and her wishes for "improvements".
The New Guy: A new male file clerk works along an all female clerks dept. The women having worked together for many years go to lunch together. They never ask the new guy to come along. Also they ask him to move furnitures, carry heavy cardboard boxes, and does tedious tasks.
Has anyone been in a situation where you felt threatened, hit upon or sexually harrassed? How did you feel and did you do something about it?
why u running 13 min miles... dats my job :)
Don't really understand why New guy is consider sexual harresment. More like abusing...
First time being harressed was when I worked over the summer at a retail store... it was this old temp guy... a bunch of them were hired to do some remodel thing... i was down in the basement doing inventory and the guy kept telling me to leave my BF and kept grabbing for my hand and trying to hold me... didn't help that it was dark and i was alone with him and his friend who just leared. i complained to my friend at break and either one of the managers overheard me or my friend told them. They fired him that day... later I found out that somebody else had complaned abt him as well. Doesn't Pay to be CREEPY!!!
Its a fine line between harrasment and just being too friendly... like one of my coworker when he comments on my clothes... i feel strangly uncomfortable but another co-worker gives me hugs and kisses... yet strangly I don't feel weird. anyways... i can go on forever....
Here's what the course said about that:
“If [Newguy] is socially excluded or given unpleasant tasks because he is male, he may claim that the other clerks have created a hostile work environment based on his gender.”
Actually this may be a case of sexual discrimination.
not sure what makes one person heebeejeebee and another not so much, even if the actions say different. vibes...which usually ARE correct.
