God is Good
I remembered a conversation I had awhile back with a non-Christian that struck me today. It went something like God is powerful, don't mess with Christians, etc., even though my friend obviously at that point in his life wasn't (and isn't) a Christian.
“God is good all the time all the time God is good.” I'm paraphrasing a Christian song I think and also if God is for us who can be against us. Sometimes we need to realize this even though our days may suck big times and we find ourselves thinking, "God are you even there?" But our God is a powerful God whether we "see" it or not. And when we do receive His blessings it makes you want to— I don't know fill in the blanks for appropriate awed emotions.
So my home church GRX is talking about caring for people. If we have God watching out for our back (and he is really really powerful) then we need to find someway to consciously watch out for others, too. The normal carrot on a stick motivation needs to go out the door. Honestly it's not easy because I have selfish tendencies and can be aloof a lot so it IS a struggle believe me to not be so self-centered and be on the lookout for other people. But God is the carrot on a stick and I will try harder. (Carrot on a stick? Can you think of a better imagery? Ummm apparently not a the moment so...)
I challenge you. Engarde. Ready?!? Here we go: when was the last time you say "Good morning" and really meant it. Remember God is good all the time All the time God is good.
carrot on a stick? i don't get the imagery.
carrot on the stick... bunny racing... they put a carrot in front of the bunny to motivate the bunny to move. Something to work toward... the prize at the end of the tunnel?!?!
Jeeyoungi: I know my imagery is kinda lame. I googled it and got the link below and also some analogies: encouragement, motivation, incentives.
Kat15812: You can also explain it as dangling a carrot in front of a donkey/mule to get it to go forward. I like your bunny imagery. Yep Yep. :)
