The Gift from God
This has been a very special Christmas season for me. This is the first year where I felt blessed by God first with putting me at the right place and the right time to meet my sweetie Sandy. He also blessed me with work where I can commute within a ten minute drive and friendly co-workers/managers. I feel like God has answered many of my prayers (a great community and church, friends and a ministry where I can serve.) That's why this is the first year where I see Christmas as a time to give back because Christ has given me so much.
This year the Nativity scene that is set up in my neighborhood has a more personable meaning. God came down to our level as a tiny vulnerable little baby in a manger and declared all who have faith in Him righteous, and to a restored relationship with God.
Also for the first time in a long while I want to buy Christmas gifts for all my nieces and nephews, siblings, and my dad. It is a real joy to know that the gift I am giving means more than getting in line, impatiently waiting for the cashier to ring up the price, fighting for that parking spot, the stress of getting the right and useful gift, etc....the list could go on. This year the gift is a symbol of a conscious decision to bring joy to other peoples' lives because of God's many blessings.
So with that in mind Sandy and myselft finished shopping for the nieces and nephews. A quick trip to Toys 'R Us did the trick. (Yes there ARE a million toys at Toys 'R Us that I can play with!) For my dad Sandy got something for him at Fry's while I got him something at Macy's. Ummm my next trip is getting presents for my siblings and then cousins, one of whom has been giving me hints of a newer MP3 player.
And come to GRX for our December 25th service at 11:00am - GrX will be coming together for one service on Christmas Sunday. Please come out as we celebrate together the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.
Narnia Updates (spoiler alerts)
Go see Narnia. Wow the animation of Aslan is so realistic. I almost lost it in the Aslan sacrificial scene. I heard they are making an entire franchise of the Narnia chronicles. If that's the case all I can say is it should be good.
it was fun shopping for your nieces and nephews! =) i can't wait to see lauren!
