Chasing After Comments
Sometimes rather than thinking of something to write I like to just rummage around the various blog sites to see what everyone else is writing. Sometimes I like to leave comments on these sites. An idea occurred to me—and folks bare in mind I haven't really thought through these things—someone could write a way to aggregate the "most recent comments" that we leave after reading wuboy, drewboy, kat15812, jeeyoungi, clieu, jimmyjam206, laurenine , mdw, and someone I really really like site.
Think of bread crumbs trail in Hansel and Gretel. A comment here, a comment there, some more at blahblahblah...there ought to be a way to sweep up all those crumbs into a "container"—most recent comments by so-and-so. A blogs comment thread if you will.
Say I come to a friend's site and see the lack of updates but then I learned that he/she has been leaving comments. Breathing a sigh of relief that they haven't drop out of society, I would follow up on them by reading their insightful and encouraging comments. And depending on the comments I'd be curious NOW as to what the entry is all about.
Flickr Updates (Holiday set)
Of the 118+ pix I took during Christmas I submitted 38 to my flickr's Holiday sets. The rest are on the cutting floor. Too bad some of the ones where we went to Alameda for the winter wonderland light shows didn't show up. Below is my niece Lauren. Isn't she cute...haha do you agree with me Sands?
Lauren all the timeWhat's Your Hosting?
Having been with Verio.net for the last five years this is what I know their performance have been slow recently. (I confirmed this with hbedy, too.) Publishing my blog is NOT consistent—sometimes fast sometimes slow. I tried publishing to "the past" at 1:48PM today and it took 7 mins. At other times it took 8 secs. I guess I should just use the "preview"...
My contract for verio is up. Come Feb. I need to relocate my site and I'm looking for a shared hosting place. How is Dreamhost? I heard they are PHP friendly and offer shell login. What are your thoughts on Dreamhost? They currently have a 97-day money back guarantee. Which other web hostings are you using?

I WIN! I'M FIRST! I'M LISTED BEFORE SOMEONE YOU REALLY REALLY LIKE! I RULE THE WORLD!
ok, i needed to get that out. i've been stressed. sorry. this was fun =) thanks mikey.
drew has been using dreamhost, and i think he can refer you. it seems pretty decent, he has implemented many features too.
and your comments idea sounds kinda e-stalkerish. but then again, we're all e-stalkers!
WUBOY: Are you still at work? Can you NOT work this weekend puhleeze? Can you NOT make the rest of us look like code wimps? Otherwise I will exact my revenge by e-stalking you. Okay you can have my old 1st gen 5gig iPod. haha.
according to my tracker, you two (wuboy and mikey) are my biggest stalkers :) that would be a fun feature!
I know you live in the heart of Silicon Valley but I think you're blog is too ... "techy"...sometimes. But I guess that's what you do for a living...so writing about it would be interesting and relevant to you and your fellow code-writing peeps...but to simple folk, like me,...it's...swoosh...straight over my head.
Why do we blog? Simple...we blog because there are opinions, feelings, events we have experienced which we want to express and share with other peeps especially those we don't see or talk to everyday. Or we're just self-centered, egotistical SOB's who think we have something important to write.
CLIEU: Ah is that true? We're so busted...But to be fair your style of writing keeps me coming back.
ARV: In some weird ways blogging also allows me to release some stress at work as well as have fun. Other part of me wants to write...I used to hate writing back in college. And last but not least I use this blog to...well learn more about the act of designing.
Interestingly I get less "hits" or page views when it's "techy" stuff and more when I write about relationships struggle and making fun of my friends. I'd be interested in having you guest write my blog...especially with your reviews of indie movies. Haha.
