Enterprise Chinese Food
The Panda Express officially opened at the office. Well sort of. This entire week my company is training customers who use our enterprise software. This happens at least once a quarter. For someone like me who is budget conscious this is a blessing. Nevermind that the office is much quieter and security around here has beefen up, the thing I most enjoy is the FREE lunch (read leftovers).
Today it was chinese food á la Panda Express. Nice and cold.
Yesterday it was sandwiches from "the Bay Area's best"—Le Boulanger.
Coincidentally I know of someone who resides in a condo *ahem*castle*ahem* above Le Boulanger in Cupertino. In fact there is a petition to make residents there be more aware of "the danger of Condo-tino". You can read about the hilarious entry here, here, and here. The condo-tino effect goes well with the white flight effect and if the trend continues condo-tino will be inhabited by mostly well-to-do asians. Sandy can probably relate to the reverse of the "let my people go" line.
Back to FREE lunch, who knows what tomorrow's lunch will be? But IF the people at work catches on to this I may have to hurry to the "lunch" line to avoid the stampede. Although I did get the last pot sticker today.
Randomn Addendum In Byte-Size
Biking to work is a joy when the time it takes to bike to work is similar to the time it takes to drive to work (~12mins). There is something to be said about the freedom of whizzing by traffic. In the Netherlands gas price is $6.25/gal. It is no wonder they have the highest bicyclist per capita...at least when I visited Amsterdam a few years ago. Bike heaven would mean half the streets on my way to work filled up with bikers.
I even got Sandy to get her "powered by _____" on this past weekend. The _____ in this case happens to be a well-oiled machine known as the Gary Fisher Paragon. This past weekend we rode around Shoreline in Mtn. View and it was fun. Why she enjoys biking and not running is beyond me but I am grateful we are spending quality time outdoors. Yay! Thanks hun.
Sandy also got the hook-up. If you remembered she didn't used to have internet access at her unit in condo-tino. YES, I was shocked, too. Well that is no longer the case. Now, according to her, we will get to see more of her funny anecdotes at her xanga blog. I for one cannot wait!
Sandy is now officially of the tribe of Abbott-ites. Congrats hun! There is something to be said about these kinds of accolades:
"100 Best Companies for Working Mothers"
"50 Best Companies for Minorities"
In my best Sands imitation: "So I am officially at Abbott, which used to be Guidant, but I drive to work at a building named Guidant, but really it is Abbott."
Oh and I almost forgot, we also watched Thank You For Smoking over the weekend and I highly recommend it.
Thank you for reading.
