Weekend Recap
The hardest part is over. We won our first GRX Hoops game with a new team: Geckos. Much appreciation goes to the SLK girls (Sands Laurine and K-Dog) for coming out so late to cheer us on. You guys gave us that extra energy needed to get over the hump of the second half.

The Wal-Mart Effect
I categorized as book even though I didn't read it. Over the weekend I watched "The Wal-Mart Effect" on Book-Span. (Sandy was also watching it, too. I feel it was quite a momentous occassion for the both of us given our usual TV diet of Desperate Housewives, and other MTV fares.)
Charles Fishman, the author, made some interesting points:
+ There are around 4000 Wal-Mart stores in the US (as of 03/07/2006). There are 400 stores in China.
+ 95 % of us live within a 15 miles drive of a Wal-Mart. 54% within a 7.4 miles drive.
+ Wal-Mart shelves over 60,000 products. If you were to place 50 items into a cart everyday for 365 days, you would never buy the same item in over 3 years.
+ A special interest group created for the purpose of lobbying for the first Wal-Mart to open in India
I know someone who has this reaction of Wal-Mart: "I don't like people who shop at Wal-Mart." And don't be surprised if Sandy comes up to you with some Wal-Mart facts. Haha.
Disclaimer: I do NOT recommend watching Book-Span regularly with your significant other. It is NOT a substitute for a night out. Unless that is your S.O. have not done their taxes. Then a night in doing taxes with perhaps white noise in the background (á la something on Book-Span) is quite appropo!

SANDS: Gecko girls are dreamy! Especially the "S" in SLK.
Wow...you remember some useless facts there hun. Chile pacific salmon ARE there biggest export, even though Chile is located in the Atlantic ocean.
