Berean
One of the things we talked about yesterday at Corner Place after church was that "Berean is the 'Starbucks of Christian bookstores'."
Why not go to smaller places like Lion and the Lamb, Gospel Books, or go online to Amazon?
What do you think?
I had a Berean gift card given to me by Scott last year at our Christmas gift exchange and I wanted get a book. And seeing that Scott was there with me during lunch, and who also was interested in going there, it made much sense to go.
So we drove to Berean. On the way there we chatted about the upcoming Chris Tomlin concert, about a friend who recently accepted Christ (congrats chanlung!), about Knot2Us, GrX, and Sunday's sermon.
While there I saw lots of nice books (outside of the one I wanted to get), heard some good Christmas and contemporary Christian musics, looked at some children DVDs (lots of Veggie Tales), saw some pretty cool tee-shirts design ("Addicted to Christ" with an Addidas logo), etc... Basically it was fun.
After being there for an hour I ended up with a Christian thriller DVD I plan on watching with my smallgroup, and this book. I think I'll enjoy both. (Scott ended up with ten ESV version of the NT and a book that he got off the "50 must have Christian books" shelf.)
Anyway, back to the Starbucks comment. The comment is valid I guess. For me though, it's not a matter of size or savings cost, I'm happy just to go to a bookstore filled with Christian books, gospel musics, Christian movies and knicknacks, a bulletin board talking about community, volunteering, being better stewards, faith, healing, etc...
Well I better get back to work.
