Right Here, Right Now

I must say this was probably the best sermon I've ever heard at GrX. (yea its only like the 5th sermon I've heard) I always appreciate well thought out sermons that preach it out of Luke. Straight up and in your face is what Luke is. I'm curious to hear about everyone's thoughts on sermon?

Following Jesus is hard period, its costly, takes over your life, and isn't culturally acceptable, yet we continue to follow? Min Tak made a good point about how costly it is to follow God and mentioned a lot about the cost of time. I tend to think the cost is far greater than simply time and resources, but the cost rather is the desires of our heart. It's the lack of desire for Christ that make time and resources hard to give. We sing all these songs about desire, yet find ourselves still lacking in desire for God. Hows the song go? "This is my desire... to follow you..." I look forward to the day that I can sing that song and say those words with genuine integrity.

What are your thoughts on the sermon?

Messy Spirituality

Per Mike's request to utilize the blog, and inspired by the topic from thurs night. I'm thinking about reading this book. Its called Messy Spirituality by Michael Yaconelli. Check out the first couple paragraphs and lemmie know if you want to read it with me =)

The first couple paragraphs read...

My life is a mess.
After forty-five years of trying to follow Jesus, I keep losing him in the crowded business of my life. I know Jesus is there, somewhere, but it's difficult to make him out in the haze of everyday life.
For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a godly person. Yet when I look at the yesterdays of my life, what I see, mostly, is a broken, irregular path littered with mistakes and failure. I have had temporary successes and isolated moments of closeness to God, but I long for the continuing presence of Jesus. Most of the moments of my life seem hopelessly tangled in a web of obligations and distractions.
I want to be a good person. I don't want to fail. I want to learn from my mistakes, rid myself of distractions, and run into the arms of Jesus. Most of the time, however, I feel like I am running away from Jesus into the arms of my own clutteredness.

What are your Isaacs?

Well I just wanted to post "what are your thoughts" on this past weekends sermon? What did you think of it? Do you think it is appropriate to use poker imagery for our post-modern church audience? How is the sermon's larger theme of one's involvement at church and with Christ versus one's committment resonate to you? And lastly what are your Isaacs and how have you lifted those up to God?

I for one have mixed feelings of the topical ideas of poker—ALL IN—to get the idea accross. However the video was hecka funny. In any case I applaud Pastor Dave's vision to break out of traditional church ideas and to "rock the boat" a little with his ALL IN series.

ALL IN Series

So after service last Sunday (10.16.05) pastor Dave approached me and asked whether it would be alright for him to mention me as an example of someone who was "ALL IN" when it comes to the GRX Community. I was very flatter to get this and then very nervous subsequently. I hope he won't mention any names—specifically mine. :)

However I just wanted to say that it is ALL TRUE. Since I walked into GRX this past Jan. I have found a new family and a new home. Although there are times when I question the existence of God and Jesus I know that I have friends who will be there for me. No names needed to be mention but I have grown a great deal and looking forward to find a usefullness that will make God proud...and also to serve you guys. You guys are the coolest!

I am looking forward to this series and I have been bombarded with lots of CAM emails about the "extra" production for this Sunday's service. Yup yup!

FuN FiLLeD SaTuRDay

Mike has this awesome idea to check out the World-famous HALF MOON BAY ART & PUMPKIN FESTIVAL. We started festivities super early in the morning (9:30) by meeting at Andrew Way's humble abode. Sorry to all those people that got calls Fri night ranging from midnight to 1 am abt the time change .... nevertheless by 10 AM Sat morning we were caravaning to HMB. Traffic sucked, but we entertained and drove our drivers crazy with random conversation and discussions :P Too bad we didn't have a walkie talk to communicate from car to car.

Arnd noon we arrived and I proceeded to make my first purchase, PUMPKIN BREAD!! YUmmy... With our tummies growling we were on a mission to FIND FOOD... and FOod we found... we stuffed our faces with TURKEY LEGS!! , clam chowder in a bread bowl, portebella mushroom sandwich, turkey sandwhich, and to top it off... PuMPKIN iCe CReaM

For the rest of the day we shuffled along following the millions of people that had also decided to come to HMB. We saw Huge pumpkins... random parade of a outhouse breaking out in fire... art.. crafts. I was a lil disspointed in the lack of pumpkins... i was imagining a huge section where tons of pumkin art was displayed... but I had fun with the 10 other people that wanted to go exploring...

But the FUn DID not stop here... we took a couple hour break to refresh and then headed over to Heather's Pad . We watched Pirates of the Carribean and stuffed our faces with Thai food. To fight food coma we engaged in the battle of the sexes... 4 girls vs. 9 guys!! Arnd 1 AM the girls made their kill =D

WOW.... craziness... that was tiring just recapping the day... thanks guys for an awesome time!! Can't think of a better way of spending a Sat!!

Party my house

Partying at my place.... after hours...

so here I am.. wide awake after small group because of Heather's awesome chex/chocolate/peanutbutter/powder sugar dessert and just from having an awesome discussion with the people that stayed later after small group dispursed. A semi open talk about everything from small group legistics to the sex in the city show to hypothtical dating situations, boy version and girl version. So much to think abt!!! :D
Its great how we can build each other up and yet be able to be open to share positive critisism.

Care For People Meeting

Last night a few of the cores met at Starbucks to go over this week's group study — caring for all people. While the study in itself is interesting, what I walked away from is that I need a community to learn about God. The dynamics and give and take of interaction of Shar, Kat, and Allen helped tremendously for me to realize points that I would never considered.

I learned also that each of us bring certain backgrounds, abilities, and gifts to "the table" and that is what it says in the Bible, in Ephesians about the Body of Christ.

Welcome Message from _mikeee

Hi Knot2Us-ers. What do you guys think of having our own blogging site? I think it will give us a central place to log our ideas, group discussions, post pics (food, fun nights, retreats, etc.), and I am sure many other reasons. I hope you don't mind that I came up with a really really simple design.

What other objectives would this site be for? For newcomers, visitors, and seekers who would be interested in learning about Our Knot2Us community.
