Being Faithful

This week in Pastor Dave's sermon, he proposed the question "How can we be faithful to what God has entrusted to us?" He talked about how we all have "filthy clothes" and need to put on new clothes. (spiritual sense) One of the statements Pastor Dave made in closing was "To have God on your own terms says it's all about me".

"All In" With our Thankfulness

Per the message on sunday, I just felt like I should put it into a little practice via blog style. But I wasn't sure who reads and doesn't read the blog.

I thank God...

I thank God for the consistent caring heart you have.

I thank God for the good heart and welcoming spirit you have.

I thank God for the ways you are wise with humility.

I thank God for your insight and desire to serve.

I thank God for your ideas and giving attitude.

I thank God for truth seeking heart and teachability.

I thank God for your servants heart and heart for people.

I thank God for willingness and good spirits.

To Conclude: Know that I thank God for you guys, I pray that you (all) experience God in great ways.

all in with our treasures

the Steve Clifford mesage "All in with our Treasures" was truly awesome. it's the best I've heard so far on tithing. this was a very well researched sermon with lots of excellent biblical references and stories

some highlights: there are no fast rules in deciding how much to tithe. the best approach is a balancing approach between joy and sacrifice. we are all stewards - stewards don't own anything but manage things for the master.

if you missed the sermon, I recommend you check it out at when it gets posted on http://www.grx.org/messages.shtml

Right Here, Right Now

I must say this was probably the best sermon I've ever heard at GrX. (yea its only like the 5th sermon I've heard) I always appreciate well thought out sermons that preach it out of Luke. Straight up and in your face is what Luke is. I'm curious to hear about everyone's thoughts on sermon?

What are your Isaacs?

Well I just wanted to post "what are your thoughts" on this past weekends sermon? What did you think of it? Do you think it is appropriate to use poker imagery for our post-modern church audience? How is the sermon's larger theme of one's involvement at church and with Christ versus one's committment resonate to you? And lastly what are your Isaacs and how have you lifted those up to God?

I for one have mixed feelings of the topical ideas of poker—ALL IN—to get the idea accross. However the video was hecka funny. In any case I applaud Pastor Dave's vision to break out of traditional church ideas and to "rock the boat" a little with his ALL IN series.

ALL IN Series

So after service last Sunday (10.16.05) pastor Dave approached me and asked whether it would be alright for him to mention me as an example of someone who was "ALL IN" when it comes to the GRX Community. I was very flatter to get this and then very nervous subsequently. I hope he won't mention any names—specifically mine. :)

However I just wanted to say that it is ALL TRUE. Since I walked into GRX this past Jan. I have found a new family and a new home. Although there are times when I question the existence of God and Jesus I know that I have friends who will be there for me. No names needed to be mention but I have grown a great deal and looking forward to find a usefullness that will make God proud...and also to serve you guys. You guys are the coolest!

I am looking forward to this series and I have been bombarded with lots of CAM emails about the "extra" production for this Sunday's service. Yup yup!
