Saw Fantastic Four Sat night and some comments:

Since MIT is a private school, does that mean whenever MIT is mentioned in the script that they will get a royalty? (If I was the dean at CalTech, I would revitalize the CalTech brand to compete with MIT and push for screenwriters to use CalTech as the top engineering school.)

Jessica Alba's Sue Storm is younger looking than Chris Evan's Johnny Storm. Also why can't they find someone at least resembling each other to play siblings.

Jessica Alba went to MIT and became the top researcher for Victor Von Doom. Believable? LET'S not!

Stan Lee must be loving it, appearing as a mailman in one scene. Does anyone know if every Marvel films so far has Stan Lee as a cameo? Now that's paying respect to the Godfather of comic books.

Movie is somewhat disjointed. Characters pop in and out without any importance, (Von Doom's assistant, the blind girl in the bar) and scenes just lack continuity (the lauching pad sequence without the launch ) Pacing is a little slow, too.

The special effects seemed rushed especially during the space station scene which was mostly hazy but at least it goes with the story — advancing the plot — not just some excuse to use special effects as compared to Van Helsing.

Audience reaction? It came in number one in the Box Office for the weekend, pulling in $56 Mil. However a movie's staying power is usually measured after the 2nd week of its release so it remains to be seen if word of mouth and 2nd week viewers will see this movie and improve the box office scores. War of The Worlds in its second week saw its box office numbers dropped by %52!

My reaction? Just wait for the DVD rentals

Before the movie there was a trailer for Corpse Bride Tim Burton's next cool project (not including Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.) IF it's anything like the magic of Vincent and The Nightmare Before Christmas, it should be good.

Fantastic Five

Played hoops Sat. morning. It was fun and we (Dai Andy John Vinh & myself) dominated the court — we played like 5 straight games back-to-back. Beastly.

GrX Sunday Service

Awesome message from Pastor Dave. This one is worth listening to if you have time. We even got these wood chips where we wrote names of people we need to forgive/reconcile and break it. It is a reference to the Sermon on The Mount (Luke 6:42) where Jesus commanded us to remove the speck from our eyes. God has been blessing GrX with some very inspiring and effective messages in the Authenticity series.
