The Uninformed Single
Sandy and myself went over to downtown Palo Alto last night for my company's Insight 2006 dinner at Il Fornaio. I had the sea bass while she had the chicken. According to their outdated 2001 menu both of us would have to hunker down $52.95 per person for our meals. Luckily my company footed the bill. The chicken was tasty but the fish were, according to Sands, "fishy". I like their hors d'oeuvre as well as their ambience. I'd like to think a certain someone would benefit by taking his future date there. =P
During dinner I sat next to a CEO from Manhanttan whose former careers as a chemical engineer, a director of an investment bank, and now running his own venture capital firm has earned him his rights to tell me these advice:
Don't be afraid to change career. Kids in your generation can have five careers. What matters is not how smart you are, that helps. It's how you work with people and if you get along with them. (—David J. P. Meachin)
Communication is Key In Relationships
But enough about career advice. I think a better one would be advice on dating. On Sat. night I'll be at a video/fellowshipping event along with some GRXers. We'll watch a video and open the floor up for discussion, mainly about gender communication.
Here are a few questions we'll be discussing: What are some things that every man/woman should know about each other? What are some things that all women wish men knew and vice versa?
I have a question for you: What are some dying questions you would like to know of the opposite sexes?
I got this article from Michiko that I think will be useful in the discussion. Here are the 10 tips she provided in said article. (Thanks Michi!)
1. Just saying "SORRY" doesn't end it all.
2. There is a time and place for MULTITASKING.
3. "FINE" doesn't mean she is really fine with everything.
4. Pay attention to DETAILS & anything UNUSUAL.
5. TAKE CARE of her and even pamper her once in a while.
6. When a girl is VENTING about her problems, don't try to cut the conversation short by proposing a SOLUTION.
7. GIRLS CAN HANDLE THE TRUTH.
8. Don't ASSUME that ALL girls are not interested in your supposed "GUY" hobbies.
9. Give her VERBAL AFFIRMATIONS and ENCOURAGEMENTS, not only when she really needs it, but also once in a random while.
10. It's OK to show YOUR WEAKNESSES.
